Lyla's Big Girl Bed

A couple of weeks ago we decided to put Lyla in her big girl bed. We made a couple of mistakes. First, we started on a Wednesday night, so Tommy had to work the next day. Second, whenever Lyla got out of bed and came out of her room, I smothered her in hugs and kisses, talked to her, and lingered in her room after putting her back in bed. Needless to say, she enjoyed the attention and excitement and she got out of her bed about 15 times before we put her in her crib for the rest of the night. We were up from midnight until 4AM, taking turns putting her back in bed. The next day, I complained on Facebook about how rough it was and my friends gave me the best advice. They said when she comes out of her room, guide her back into bed with as little talking as possible, no hugs & kisses, nothing to make it special. Lyla must have gotten used to her bed by the second night because she only got up once at 3AM and then again at 6AM. Both times I led her back to bed as my friends suggested and she has been loving sleeping in her big girl bed ever since. She even takes naps in there just as good as she did in her crib.

We did move Lyla into a new room, so Caroline can have the nursery. Tommy painted Lyla's room a beautiful green color. Now he is building her toy storage, so more pictures to come as we continue to work on her room. Poor Caroline's nursery is going to be pretty bare for a while, because we moved most of Lyla's decorative items into her new room. Time has gotten away from us so we will work on decorating the nursery when we can. She will start out in our room in the pack and play for a while.

Here are some pictures of Lyla's big girl bed. I think it is so cute. She looks so small in it. I will try and get a picture of her in it later.
