Poor baby!

Since Lyla was born in the middle of a hot Florida summer of 2008, she didn't get sick until she was four or five months old. However, my cute little month old baby started coughing, sneezing, and had a stuffy nose late last week. I thought it would come and go quickly, but yesterday when she was still very congested I called and made a doctor's appointment. We took her this morning and the doctor said she was wheezing and gave her an inhaler and an antibiotic. I'm hoping it will help and my sweet pea can soon breath well again. Lyla also has a stuffy nose, but doesn't she always? Her snot is clear and she's not coughing and still sleeping and playing just fine. Luckily, no one has a fever. It seems everyone is sick these days.

Lyla's My Gym Adventures

Lyla has been going to My Gym for about a year now. She absolutely loves it, but because we are getting so busy with other fun things, we are going to take a little break from My Gym. Here are some photos and videos of her having so much fun at My Gym. We will both miss the coaches and the other parents and kids we met there.

Caroline's Newborn Photo Shoot

Our wonderful photographer, Sarah Eddy, came to our house to take pictures of my beautiful girls. I snuck in some of the pictures too so Tommy could have one for his desk at work of all three of his girls. The day of the photo shoot, Caroline was five weeks old and Lyla was two and a half years old. Outside, Lyla danced and twirled between posing for pictures and Caroline happily laid in my arms. Once inside, we placed Caroline in a basket. Lyla hugged and kissed her little sister as Caroline drifted into a peaceful sleep, perfect for the pictures we wanted. We are thrilled to have these pictures of our beautiful girls and will cherish them forever. Here are some of my favorites from the day.

One Month Old Already?

Where did the month go? Caroline is growing up way too fast already. She is such a good baby. She mostly eats and sleeps. I normally feed her every three hours from beginning of one feeding to the beginning of the next, sometimes every two hours. I try to keep her on the "Babywise" routine which means during the day every three hours she eats, has awake time (which doesn't always happen because she is a sleepy baby), then takes a nap. I am breastfeeding her, but she has taken one bottle from Tommy, so I am thankful that she will do that. She occasionally takes a pacifier, but she doesn't like it as much as Lyla did. We have to work to get her to take it and she doesn't keep it in very long. At night, I feed her before I go to bed at 10:00, then around 2AM and again around 5 or 5:30AM. Luckily she goes to sleep quickly after I feed her. I am so ready to drop one of the feedings and get more sleep. One night last week she did only get up once at 3:30 and I was so excited, but I guess it was a fluke because that was the only night. Caroline loves her bouncy seat and swing and does well in the carseat as long as we're in motion. We went shopping today and she didn't like it too much when the stroller stopped.

Lyla is still very much in love with Caroline and always wants to hold, hug and kiss her. She's such a sweet big sister. Here they are in their "Big Sister" and "Little Sister" shirts.
We have a similar picture of Lyla like this when Lyla was about the same age.
This is Sophie the giraffe, a gift from my friend Mary Lauren. She was born in Paris and is made of natural rubber. She's a squeaky toy and a teether. Sophie and Caroline have already bonded.
This is one of my favorite pictures of Caroline. We were doing tummy time. Her neck has been pretty strong since day one.
Tommy, Lyla, and Caroline had a photo shoot last week. They took some cute pictures that show just how much Lyla loves her little sister.
Lyla took this picture of Tommy and Caroline all by herself. Of course I love this one with Tommy looking at her.
This is Caroline's nursery on her one month birthday. Her nursery is a work in progress, but we are almost done decorating it. She hasn't officially moved in yet, because she still sleeps in our room. We are leaving it pink & brown like it was for Lyla, but are doing a monkey theme. It's hard to find anything with pink & brown & monkeys so Tommy painted the pictures above the crib. When we complete the nursery, I will post more pictures.
Here is Caroline at one month old. She's so big!
We have been blessed with two beautiful sweet girls and love them both so much.

Lyla's First Day of Preschool

My plan was to wait until September when Lyla is three to send Lyla to preschool. However, with the new baby and cold weather I started feeling guilty that Lyla was spending countless boring hours watching me care for baby Caroline indoors. Lucky for us a spot opened up in the two year old room at our church's preschool. Lyla will go to school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9-1. She takes her lunch, so I bought her a cute little lunch box and a huge backpack to carry everything in. When I dropped her off this morning, she clinged to me a little until the teacher called her over to the toys. She didn't cry when I left. I on the other hand cried when I got into the car. It's hard for me to watch her grow up so fast. Here is Lyla with her super huge backpack before we left for preschool this morning. They wanted her to have one big enough to hold her lunchbox and any artwork she does. When I picked her up they said she did well. They told me that she asked the teacher for a hug at one point. I had told her if she felt sad that the teacher would hug her, so I guess she needed one. It was quite a challenge getting to the car to come home. I was pushing Caroline in the stroller and trying to hold Lyla's hand in the parking lot. All of the sudden Lyla decided she didn't want to hold hands and when I grabbed her she fell. She didn't cry but she looked pretty silly rolling on the ground in her puffy pink coat and backpack. After that, she held my hand all the way to the car. I think next week, we will do the drop off & pick up where they come and get her out of the car so I don't have to get Caroline out. When I asked her if she wanted to go back to school next week, she smiled and said an enthusiastic "YES!" I'm so proud of my big girl. Here are some pictures of her before we left for preschool.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from Lyla! Nana and Papa Morrow packed up to leave New Year's morning, but not without celebrating with Lyla first.
