Happy Halloween!

Lyla got all decked out for Halloween. She didn't wear a costume, but she was very festive. She wore her Boo! coveralls that I bought her, her Ghost hat from Papa and Nana George and her bib and pumpkin socks from Papa and Nana Morrow. Lyla played and napped at home until Tommy got home from work and then we all went to the Jacksonville fair in downtown Jacksonville. Lyla met all kinds of animals for the first time. She met rabbits, roosters, pigs, goats, and more.

After seeing the sights, we gave Lyla her bottle, then Tommy and I chowed down on corn dogs and ribbon fries while Lyla watched. Turns out you can get anything fried at the fair...fried twinkies, fried oreos, fried snickers...the list goes on & on. You can also get pretty much any food on a stick...chicken on a stick, steak on a stick, pig on a stick...you get the idea. Tommy and I drew the line at corn dogs and fries.

Lyla was very alert at the fair and took it all in, but once we got in the car she fell asleep within minutes. Once we were home, Lyla ate rice cereal (which she loves now) and we played a little. We only had two groups of Trick or Treaters, so not much excitement there. After Lyla went to bed, me and Tommy celebrated Halloween by watching a scary movie...eek! Now we are watching Appalachian whip up on Wofford 69 to 24. Go Mountaineers!!

Lyla and Pink Baby

Lyla played with her "Pink Baby" for a long time today. She chewed her feet, bit her face, and pulled her hair. "Pink Baby" was a gift from one of Lyla's friends, Jamison. Jamison is the daughter of our friends, Russ & Leigh. Jamison has a Sleeping Beauty doll and calls her "Pink Baby" and calls Cinderella "Blue Baby." So because this doll is from Jamison, we will carry on the tradition and call her "Pink Baby." Thank you for giving her to Lyla, because she loves her "Pink Baby" doll.

Haven't taken any pics of Lyla today, but here is one of her in her Bumbo seat the other day. She's not quite sure about this seat yet. She only lasts 5 or 10 minutes in it.

Are we still in Florida?

Last night we actually had to turn on the heat here before we went to bed. We switched it from A/C straight to heat, never actually got to turn the thermostat to off. It got down into the upper 30's, which is rare for October in Jacksonville, FL. It was chilly during the day today, but Lyla and I still got out and went to the mall. I had to buy a NFL t-shirt because this Sunday is NFL Sunday at church. We will be sure to take pictures and post them on the blog. Here is Lyla all bundled up in her carseat ready to go to the mall.

Here is Lyla waking up from her nap today. She is always smiling when she wakes up, unlike her mother who doesn't like to wakeup. She is playing with her worm that the Peitzmeiers gave her. Thanks Kyle and Nadine!

A Weekend with our Parents

This past weekend my parents and Tommy's parents visited us to see Lyla's dedication at our church. Friday night our parents babysat Lyla while we went to a Halloween party. It was the first time I've left Lyla except for in the church nursery. We were gone from 6:45 until 11:15, and I only called to check in once so I would say I did pretty good.

Here is a picture of Lyla playing with my parents.On Saturday we went to the Air Show at Naval Air Station Jax. We saw so many cool jets including the Blue Angels. We had to cover Lyla's little ears when the loud jets went over. She actually slept through most of the Blue Angels performance on her Dad's chest in the Baby Bijorn.

Lyla's dedication was Sunday morning. I will have to add those pictures later, because they are on Papa & Nana's cameras and the church photographer's camera, not ours. The dedication was very nice, but Lyla did cry some. She received a certificate and a pink New Testament Bible.

We had a fun weekend with our parents and baby girl!!

I'm Giving In

I've finally decided to start a blog. It just seems like the right thing to do and I've felt like a slacker for not starting this earlier.

Here is my background for those of you who don't know. Tommy and I have been married for 4 1/2 years. We live in Jacksonville, FL about 15 minutes from the beach. The rest of our family lives in NC. Tommy is a helicopter pilot in the Navy. Until recently I was a Tax Manager for a local CPA firm. On June 11, 2008, we had our beautiful baby girl, Lyla. I left my job to stay home with her.

I will now catch you up on Lyla's milestones that you have missed because of my lack of blogging. At birth Lyla weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz and was 20 inches long. She is smiling, laughing, rolling from back to front (one direction), sitting up while supported, sleeping through the night, and has starting to eat rice cereal once a day while sitting in her highchair. She's also good at grasping things, shaking rattles and putting everything into her mouth. She has gotten her two month and four month shots. At four months old she weighed 13 lbs. 8 ozs. and was 24 inches long. She's always around the 50th percentile. So far, no illnesses (knock on wood). She is such a good baby and we are having so much fun with her.
