George Family Vacation

We met my family (my parents, brother, sister-in-law and niece) in North Myrtle Beach the day after Lyla's birthday. We celebrated Lyla's birthday them once we got there with cake & ice cream. Lyla was so happy to have more cake. As soon as she got the cake she said "I need a spoon."
Lyla got to open more presents. Nana and Papa gave her a Dora backpack & t-ball set and clothes. Brad, Kelli and Skylar gave her Diego & Dora DVD's.
That's our niece (Lyla's cousin) Skylar in the back. She is such a cutie.
Lyla LOVES the beach. She loves getting sand all over her and playing in the ocean. She always has more sand on her than any other kid she is playing with.
Lyla and Skylar played great together. Lyla is almost exactly a year older than Skylar.
Brad had to round up the kiddos when they ran off too far.
Nana and Papa with Skylar.
I really like this picture of Tommy and Lyla playing in the sand. Tommy couldn't build sandcastles fast enough because Lyla loves squashing them.
Lyla loves yoga.
The condo we stayed at had a great kiddie pool, but we love the ocean so much we only visited it a couple of times during the week. I think Lyla looks older in this picture.
We visited a Jeff Foxworthy store (I think that's what it was) at Broadway at the Beach. They had this big deer that Lyla did not want to get off of.
We finished the week with Skylar and Kelli opening birthday presents from us because we wouldn't get to see them on their birthdays which are in late June. They share the same birthday, which could also be the case with me and my second baby if I go 11 days early.
And we gave Dad his Father's Day gift because Father's Day was in two days.
We had a great week at the beach. Lyla always loves her Nana and Papa, but she also fell in love with Uncle Brad, Aunt Kelli, and Skylar. She said Uncle Brad about 100 times that week and she still talks about him often.

Happy Birthday Lyla! 6/11/10

Here is Lyla waking up on her 2nd birthday. Her hair is always in her face when she wakes up.
Picture after we pulled her hair back. Look at that sweet face.
Birthday pancake breakfast. Let's face it, Lyla eats pancakes most mornings. She also loves oatmeal, eggs and muffins.
Tommy and I gave Lyla a tricycle for her birthday. This one is cool because we can push her around until she learns to peddle herself. She loves to ring the bell.

Lyla's 2nd Birthday Party - June 5th, 2010

We celebrated Lyla's 2nd birthday at Mandarin Park Playground on Saturday, June 5th. Lyla loves Dora so we had a Dora theme. Here is a picture of her invitation that went out. Food included cake, chicken minis, pretzels, animal crackers, raisins, fruit, veggies, tortilla chips with salsa & guacamole (for the Dora theme), juice and water. Lyla didn't waste anytime eating her snack with Daddy.
I set up one table with Dora and Diego coloring pages for kids that needed a break from the hot playground. Here is Olivia coloring the Star from Dora.
Jacqueline ready to chow down.
Notice Lyla's cool Dora shirt. I ordered it from Etsy.com. I love this website because you can e-mail the people that make the items and ask for exactly what you want. Some lady from who knows where found this Dora fabric just for us, made the shirt and shipped it to us. Easy, huh? I suggest this website to anyone who loves handmade items but has no idea how to make them themselves. The playground is really big with two large pieces of equipment, but most of the kids at Lyla's party liked the little plastic set because it was just there size.

Lyla going down the slide
This is Anna Claire, Lyla's BFF. They do lots of things together like My Gym, play while Mommies workout at Stroller Strength, play at MOPS nursery and more. They have lots of fun together with the occasional 2 year old disagreement.

Jacqueline is another one of Lyla's great friends from Stroller Strength that we normally see a couple times a week.
This is one of Lyla's older friends Jamison. Lyla looks up to her and follows her around doing whatever Jamison does. Jamison is great with Lyla and helps her do lots of fun stuff.
Jamison's little brother, Gage. He's always outnumbered by the ladies.

Cake time! Lyla's cake had Dora, Boots & Diego on top. Lyla loves Diego about as much as she loves Dora.

Notice the goodie bags to the left. I made Dora backpacks for the girls and Diego rescue packs for the boys to take home with treats inside.
You can see how hot Lyla was in this picture. Gotta love Florida!
Family picture
We waited until we got home and Lyla had a nap to open the presents. This is pretty much the way all Lyla's 2-3 year-old friends do their parties. It's just too many toddlers with too short attention spans to open at the party. Lyla's Nana and Papa Morrow were in town for the party, so they helped Lyla open and play with her gifts. She received some wonderful toys and clothes from her friends and Nana and Papa. Thanks everyone!

We had a great time celebrating Lyla's 2nd birthday and sweating off a few calories in the process. Thanks to all of Lyla's guests who came and made it a special day.

Mother's Day Crafts

For Mother's Day this year, we did crafts for Lyla's Nanas using her handprints. Of course we had to do some finger painting while we were at it. I was pleased with how the crafts turned out. I hope the Nana's are enjoying them and think of sweet Lyla when they look at them.

Sailor Girl

We went to a welcome home party a few months ago for one of our good friends, Tobias Walters. Lyla wore this precious dress and we tried to get a good picture of her, but she is always on the move.

Playing Catch Up

I've been so behind on my blog lately due to morning sickness, potty training, planning for baby and just my overall frustration with this blogging website. Every time I try to catch up I get frustrated and close the computer. My great friend Mary Lauren gave me some tips and we have a new Mac, so I'm going to try my best to catch up. If anyone else has any cool blogger tips they would like to share with me that you think are cool feel free to share. So be prepared for lots of posts, hopefully.

Big Sister Lyla

We found out in March that we are expecting a baby. Our due date is Christmas Day. December is going to be busy with my birthday on the 14th, Christmas on the 25th, Tommy's birthday on the 31st, and the new baby's birthday. We announced it to our parents by dressing Lyla in this shirt that says "I'm Going To Be A Big Sister" and calling them on the webcam. My mom and Tommy's mom both saw the shirt immediately. Everyone is very excited including Lyla. She always talks about the baby in Mommy's tummy and how she is going to be a BIG Sister. She has a book and DVD about Dora becoming a big sister, which has really helped her to understand. We tried to get a good picture in the shirt, but when we take Lyla's picture, she still says "Cheese!" and scrunches up her face. We got a better one outside as she was running around. Also, we found out last week that WE ARE HAVING A GIRL! We are interested to see how sisters work, because Tommy and I both grew up with one of each in our families. I hope they will be the best of friends.
