Lyla's 2nd Birthday Party - June 5th, 2010

We celebrated Lyla's 2nd birthday at Mandarin Park Playground on Saturday, June 5th. Lyla loves Dora so we had a Dora theme. Here is a picture of her invitation that went out. Food included cake, chicken minis, pretzels, animal crackers, raisins, fruit, veggies, tortilla chips with salsa & guacamole (for the Dora theme), juice and water. Lyla didn't waste anytime eating her snack with Daddy.
I set up one table with Dora and Diego coloring pages for kids that needed a break from the hot playground. Here is Olivia coloring the Star from Dora.

Notice Lyla's cool Dora shirt. I ordered it from Etsy.com. I love this website because you can e-mail the people that make the items and ask for exactly what you want. Some lady from who knows where found this Dora fabric just for us, made the shirt and shipped it to us. Easy, huh? I suggest this website to anyone who loves handmade items but has no idea how to make them themselves. The playground is really big with two large pieces of equipment, but most of the kids at Lyla's party liked the little plastic set because it was just there size.

This is Anna Claire, Lyla's BFF. They do lots of things together like My Gym, play while Mommies workout at Stroller Strength, play at MOPS nursery and more. They have lots of fun together with the occasional 2 year old disagreement.

Jacqueline is another one of Lyla's great friends from Stroller Strength that we normally see a couple times a week.
This is one of Lyla's older friends Jamison. Lyla looks up to her and follows her around doing whatever Jamison does. Jamison is great with Lyla and helps her do lots of fun stuff.
Jamison's little brother, Gage. He's always outnumbered by the ladies.

Cake time! Lyla's cake had Dora, Boots & Diego on top. Lyla loves Diego about as much as she loves Dora.

Notice the goodie bags to the left. I made Dora backpacks for the girls and Diego rescue packs for the boys to take home with treats inside.
You can see how hot Lyla was in this picture. Gotta love Florida!
Family picture
We waited until we got home and Lyla had a nap to open the presents. This is pretty much the way all Lyla's 2-3 year-old friends do their parties. It's just too many toddlers with too short attention spans to open at the party. Lyla's Nana and Papa Morrow were in town for the party, so they helped Lyla open and play with her gifts. She received some wonderful toys and clothes from her friends and Nana and Papa. Thanks everyone!

We had a great time celebrating Lyla's 2nd birthday and sweating off a few calories in the process. Thanks to all of Lyla's guests who came and made it a special day.
