Happy Easter 2012!

We had so much fun this Easter! Lyla learned the Easter story in preschool and church and has really been talking about it and asking questions. One day she got in the car and said "Mom, He is Risen!" It was so cute! We were out playing with sidewalk chalk and she drew a picture of a cross and then said "I'm going to draw Jesus on the cross with a sad face." Here is a picture of it, not sure if you can make out what it is. It was cute, but made me sad at the same time. I love that she is learning that there is more to Easter than just eggs and bunnies.
Caroline had fun with the chalk too. Bad day for white shorts though.
Wednesday of Easter week, Lyla had her egg hunt, hat parade and Easter party at school. Caroline and I went for the parade and party. Here is Lyla running up to hug me during the parade. I love how happy she is to see me. They come through the playground, back into the church, down the hall, and out to the lawn where the cross is for the Easter story.
After listening to the Easter story they sang Hosanna. I love that they had been practicing and sang it so well for all of us proud parents.
We took a class picture in front of the cross. I'm going to try and name everyone with Lyla's help so we remember the kids from her 3 year old class. Here we go: from front left: Sarah, K K, Gabi, Katherine, Leila, Lyla, Roman, Clancey, Jacob, Connor, Cooper & Shayanne. This is Ms. Mary Kay & Ms. Sherry's 3 year old class.
A close up of the hat Lyla made for the parade. I let her pick out the flowers, stickers, and ribbon at the craft store each year and she helps me stick & glue everything on.
Caroline had the best time at Lyla's Easter party. She was like a little celebrity as all the 3 year olds in Lyla's class crowded around her. She loved all the toys. I hope this is a sign that she will enjoy preschool next year.
As always Lyla sat on the L during circle time.
They had pizza, chips and fruit. Caroline got to eat lunch at the party too. She enjoyed her pizza until she decided she wanted to walk around with it, which this mama wasn't going to tolerate. I finally pried the pizza out of her hands and off to the bathroom we went to wash her hands. She loves to wash her hands, so I knew that would make her forget about the missing pizza.
Is that Bob the builder or Lyla? I love this picture. All of the kids had some play time after the party. Lyla and Caroline were having so much fun we were almost the last to leave.
The girls love getting packages in the mail from their Nanas and Papas. First they got the one from my parents. The highlight for Lyla was the Easter colored candy corn. She loved the candy corn last Halloween and wanted some Christmas colored & Valentine's colored candy corn which I never found. So happy Nana found some for Easter.
Caroline enjoyed the tissue paper.
She got a monkey purse which she loves to carry around too. She still loves to wear the bunny slippers.
The next day they got their Easter package from Tommy's parents. Lyla got the Golden Egg book.
And some craft stuff. The girl loves crafts!
Saturday the squadron's FRG (Family Readiness Group) held at Easter Egg Hunt at a playground on base. The weather was perfect and the girls had so much fun playing, finding eggs, and eating of course.
The older kids played some red light green light. Here is Lyla and her friend Langley running so hard during green light. I love this picture.
Later Saturday we dyed eggs. Lyla painted them and decorated them with stickers before she dyed them.
The Easter bunny visited! Lyla's basket is the pink one and included: a sketch pad, owl towel, pea, Tinker Bell band aids, chocolate bunny, Toy Story 2, panties (yes, weird, but she loves getting new ones), and a bunny dish set complete with pink cup. Caroline's basket is the purple basket and she got a new cell phone, Gerber treats, sippy cups with straws (the girl loves straws), a chocolate marshmallow bunny, and her own dish set with a blue cup.
The girls had so much fun going through all of their Easter stuff.
We went to the early service at church. It was at 8:30, but since we have early risers in the house, this was not a problem. Our church has a beautiful cross that they put Easter lilies on and everyone lines up to get the family picture taken. I love it!
Since we were weren't with our extended family, we made brunch reservations at Mimi's Cafe after church so we didn't have to cook a big meal just for us. It was yummy, but Caroline was not happy to be there. We did all get to eat, but I think it would've been less stressful to cook. Oh well! As my mom would say, We made a memory.

  1. So, so, so impressed with all the catching up you are doing! I am trying to get back to it! I just back-posted most of March. You spend a lot more time than I do though. I don't know what you are saying about you not being crafty...not true! : )
