Lyla talks on the phone AND more exciting milestones
Our neighbors gave Lyla a Fisher Price phone for her birthday. She has a few play cell phones and hasn't put any of them up to her ear. For some reason she gets the old school rotary phone and put it up to her ear like its a real phone. She's starting to really learn things. She can say "woof woof" when asked what a dog says. She also says tennis shoes. OK, probably only Tommy and I can understand that one, but she does try and repeat it when we say it. And....drum roll please....Lyla is walking!!! The most steps she has taken at once is about five, but she's getting there!! It is so cool watching that little baby walk towards me. We took a video of it, but I haven't gotten it on the computer yet.
Tommy's SECOND Father's Day
This year I had my first Mother's Day, but because Lyla was born two days before Father's Day last year, this was Tommy's second Father's Day. Actually, Tommy gave me gifts and let me celebrate Mother's Day when I was pregnant, he's so sweet. Tommy and Lyla had a fun Father's Day. We went to church where Lyla made a craft for Tommy. She used finger paint and put finger prints on a paper in the shape of a bunch of grapes, and it says "I love you bunches." So sweet!!!! Lyla also gave Tommy a book they can read together called Hop on Pop. It's a Dr. Seuss book. We can't get enough of those books. After church we had lunch at Beach Road Fried Chicken Dinners. So yummy!!! We had a Father's Day photo shoot to remember the day.

Morrow Family Vacation
We spent a week in North Myrtle Beach with Tommy's family in mid-June. The vacation included Tommy' parents, his sister Kathryn, her husband Jeff, and their kids Lexi and Max, and Tommy, Lyla and me. We had a great time. The first night, we celebrated Lyla and Kathryn's birthdays. Kat's birthday is the day after Lyla's. As always Lyla thoroughly enjoyed eating her cake.

Lyla's cake had a cute little "1" candle on top. I won't tell you how many candles were on Aunt Kathryn's cake. You can try and count them.
Lyla got some great gifts and her and her cousins played with them all week at the beach. She got a Fisher Price Lawn Mower, and lift the flap farm book, a drum, maracas, stuffed elephant and kitten, a Golden Book, and cute clothes.

Lyla thoroughly enjoyed the ocean. She crawled around in the shallow end. When a wave came, she sat up and splashed. We had a hard time keeping her from rubbing sand on her face and in her eyes, but other than that, the beach was a success.
She took her morning naps on the beach sitting on our laps.
We bought this cabana for Lyla to sit and play under. It has UPF in it, and folds up and down so easily that I can do it myself when I go to the beach while Tommy's at work.
The condo we stayed at had plenty of pools - one outdoor pool, one indoor pool, two kiddie pools, two hot tubs, and a lazy river. I thoroughly enjoyed the lazy river and Lyla floated around in it for a long time. I know this is probably the only year that she will be still enough in her float to be lazy with me in the lazy river.
Here is Tommy's sister's family all on one float.
Lyla with Nana Avis in the kiddie pool. She could walk around in the kiddie pool while in her float. Too cute!
We went to Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach. Lyla enjoyed looking at all the fish.
Lexi and Max leaving the aquarium in style.
All the kids loved playing with Papa Keith on the bed. I guess it's OK to jump on the bed when you're on vacation.
We had a great vacation and sure missed everyone when we got home. Lyla enjoyed playing with her cousins. She and Max really bonded during the trip.

Lyla's Birthday - June 11th
My plan is to take a picture of Lyla waking up on her birthdays as long as I can. When she wakes up her hair is quite messy. Here she is on her first birthday. She puts her passies in herself now and seems to prefer them upside down.

We had a small celebration after dinner with just the three of us. We got Lyla a Classic Cami cupcake from Cami Cakes. They have the best cupcakes ever. If you've never had one, you must try it. They are located next to Mellow Mushroom in Jacksonville, FL. After the cupcakes, we gave Lyla more presents. We gave her a pink bouncy ball, Dr. Suess books, special dishes just for her, and a snack trap, which is an awesome invention.
Birthday Balloon Fun!
We went to Toys R Us the day before Lyla's birthday and they gave her a birthday balloon. Lyla has been a little nervous around balloons in the past, but not anymore. She had a great time chasing the balloon around.

Lyla's Birthday Celebration!!
Lyla is ONE today!! We are having a few celebrations in her honor. The first one was last Saturday while her Papa and Nana George were visiting. We had cake and ice cream and she opened presents from some of her family. I love so many of the pictures, so here goes!
Big Cake
Smash Cake
Lyla in her birthday dress! So cute!
I'm ready for cake!
What is this? It doesn't taste like carrots or peas...And what's on my head?
I think I like this!
Getting the hang of the "smash" cake!
The icing is the best part!
I'm ready for my bath! It actually got a lot worse than this, but I didn't capture it because it was so messy I had to put down the camera and take action. She smeared it in her hair, hair bow & hat. Icing is hard to wash out of all that hair. She smelled sweet like cake for a day or two.
