Lyla's First Time in the Pool

After church Sunday we took Lyla out to the pool. It was almost 80 degrees here but the pool was pretty cold. At first I didn't think Lyla was going to like it because it was so cold but then she kicked back in her float and seemed to enjoy it.

After playing in the pool, Lyla dried off some with dad in the chair. Then I laid a towel in the shade for her to play.

Lyla's First Easter

We spent Easter weekend at Tommy's parents house in Kings Mountain, NC. We had a great weekend and enjoyed seeing our family.

On Saturday we went to the Shelby Park. This is such a nice park with a big playground, flower garden, carousel and train. We ate lunch, took pictures in the garden, played on the playground, and rode the carousel and train.

Maybe we'll take her back in about six months and see if she likes it better.Here we are on the train. Lyla liked it better than the carousel, but wasn't sure about the tunnel we went through. The Easter bunny brought her a pink stuffed bunny, a See & Say, and a clacker bunny book. Lyla loves it all, especially the See & Say.We went to the Sunrise Service and breakfast at church. Then we went to Owen's for lunch (Tommy's mom's family). Lyla just couldn't go on any more and fell asleep during lunch. It was cute. After she woke up we took some pictures in Grandma Jenny's yard and the kids hid and found eggs. Lyla with her cousins Lexi and Max. Lexi is 4 and Max will be 2 on May 31st. What a good looking group of kids. I love them all so much. They are sooooo sweet.

Lyla Outsmarts Us

Lyla loves our laptop so we always have to put it out of her reach. Lately, not much in our house is out of Lyla's reach because she has learned to pull up and climb. Saturday evening Tommy and I were watching the game and probably not paying as much attention to Lyla as we should've been. Tommy looked up and saw that Lyla had pulled up on her toy and reached the computer that we had left open on the ottoman. After we laughed and took a picture we noticed that that everything on the screen had flipped sideways. We had no idea how Lyla did this so what else could we do but Google the problem. Apparently Lyla knew that Ctrl, Atl, and the arrow key will flip the computer screen. So now if your little one pulls this prank on you, you will know what to do.

Lyla or Dora the Explorer?

As I mentioned in my last blog, Lyla has started pulling up and climbing on everything. We currently do not have a gate at the bottom of the stairs because our stairwell is so weird at the bottom that we aren't sure what kind of gate will work. She hardly ever just sits and plays anymore, she has to be standing and exploring. We call her Dora now because she's always exploring.

You know how you hold the camera out and take your own picture? Lyla really enjoys when we do this. It's funny that she smiles even when there's no one on the other side of the camera taking her picture. Here are several of our "self portraits."

Easter Dress Shopping

As you can see from the picture currently at the top of my blog, I took Lyla Easter dress shopping. This is the one we came home with. I put it on her when we got home to make sure it fits. She's almost 10 months old but is wearing 12 month clothes. I probably will start buying 18 month clothes now because the 12 month ones are fitting perfectly right now. Hopefully Lyla will enjoy wearing her dress Sunday. And no she's not standing without holding on to something, I had her leaning against the wall which she does pretty well.

A Tooth! Finally!

Saturday night Lyla was sitting with Tommy and she put his finger in her mouth. Tommy told me he felt a tooth. We were so excited because Lyla is almost 10 months old and toothless. She wasn't fussy Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, so I thought I had a tough little girl and teething would be a breeze for us. Wednesday Lyla started drooling, her nose is running and boy is she fussy. Thank goodness for grape flavored baby Tylenol. I guess this won't be as easy as I had hoped. We can't really see the tooth yet, so I think it is going to take a while to poke through.
