Lyla Meets Santa

Tommy was off work today, so we took Lyla to the mall to meet Santa for the first time ever. She wasn't scared at all. She went right to him and smiled for every picture. We aren't sure what they talked about, but it made Lyla smile. Here is the picture that we chose.

It's Been A Long Time

It's been too long since I blogged to let you know how the Morrow's are doing. We have been so busy enjoying the Holiday season that I haven't had a chance to keep everyone up to date. Also, we left our digital camera in NC over Thanksgiving, so we've been using our old out of date camera which isn't as easy to use. So, you won't get to see any pics from Thanksgiving since they are being held hostage on our camera in NC.

Our Thanksgiving trip to NC was a huge success. Lyla did so good in the car going and coming home. She hardly fussed, and we made it there in the same amount of time that we did pre-Lyla. I'm sure that will change when Lyla is potty trained. We have a while until that happens though. Over Thanksgiving we visited all of our families and had a great time. Lyla had so many people to play with and enjoyed it all. She was showing off at Great Grandma George's and tried to crawl, but hasn't quite accomplished that yet.

Since we got home, we've been shopping, shopping, shopping. Thank goodness I'm not working and can do some shopping during the week when it's not so crowded. It still takes forever because I don't like to keep Lyla out too long, so we shop in short spurts. We've also been going to Christmas parties. We had Tommy's squadron Christmas party, Tommy's Officer's Christmas party and our Sunday School Christmas party. We would like to thank the Everitts, Leonards, and Walters for babysitting Lyla so that we could enjoy the festivities. We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends to help us out.

As you can see at the top of my blog, we took our Christmas card photo. It was not an easy task since we were using our old camera and the screen doesn't work anymore. Here are some other recent pictures so you can see how Lyla is growing.

Lyla received Christmas gifts from her friends Jamison and Gage. She did a pretty good job unwrapping them.

Here is Lyla on her 6 month birthday. Poor Lyla had her first cold on her 6 month birthday. It wasn't too bad, just a really stuffy nose. She was still able to get her shots as you can see from the band aid on her thigh. Lyla has really grown:
weight: 15 lbs 8 ozs (birth weight: 7 lbs 1 oz)
height: 25 1/2 inches (birth height: 20 inches)

As you can see we are trying out some new hairstyles. Our new favorite is the sprig on the top of her head. I also tried a bow on each side, but I don't think we'll be repeating this one. What do you all think?

Some Cute Moments

Here are some pictures from last week. Lyla was looking really cute in her nursery chair. I just loved her in this outfit. It finally got cold enough for her to wear it.

Lyla enjoyed playing with her Thanksgiving cards from her Nanas and Papas.

Over the weekend, we decided to try and put Lyla in the jogging stroller facing forward. She is usually in her carseat facing backward at us. Last time we tried this she didn't like it, but she thoroughly enjoyed herself this time. She cooed and babbled the entire walk.

She's also getting the hang of the jumper we bought her. Well sort of. She doesn't really jump, but she loves playing with the toys.

Sleeping, rolling & sitting

Not much happened this week. Tommy was out of town, but now he's home. Lyla was a good baby while he was gone. She slept really well. This is how she's been sleeping for about month now. Yes, I put her on her back like I'm supposed to, but she rolls to her tummy and sleeps like that the entire night.

Lyla is on the move now. Yesterday I laid her in the middle of this blanket, in the middle of the toys. I went to wash some dishes and when I returned, she was like this. She usually only rolls to her tummy and stays there. She must've rolled three times to get off the blanket and I missed it.

Last night she sat in her bumpo for the longest time ever and played with the toy on it. My little girl is growing up so fast.

Lyla's 5 Months Old Today!

Lyla is 5 months old!! Thank goodness, she doesn't have to go to the doctor for a 5 month well baby visit. We do that again at 6 months. Lyla had a pretty good 5 month birthday, except she decided not to nap well and she had a minor 10 minute meltdown tonight. I think she's worried about getting old!! This birthday is really getting to her. I'm still propping Lyla up so that she will be sitting up soon. I have to make sure she's sitting up by Christmas so she can play with her new toys that Santa brings her. I think she will be. Here's what she looked like today sitting in the boppy trying to reach for her book.

First kiss!

Tommy and I went to a Navy party last Friday night. We left Lyla with our friends, the Walters. They have a one year old named James. Lyla had a good time, but look what she did. She had her first kiss with baby James. She's so cute, I knew it wouldn't be too long before this happened. We appreciate the Walters keeping Lyla and letting us have baby-free fun for a few hours.

Baby Dedication at Church - 10/26/08

Lyla was dedicated at our church, Deermeadows Baptist Church, on October 26th, 2008. I blogged about it earlier, but didn't have the pictures to share with you. Here they are. My parents and Tommy's parents were here to share this special day with us. Our church has a wonderful children's program and we are so excited that Lyla gets to spend her first few years of life there. We pray that when the Navy decides to move us we can find a church similar to Deermeadows.
