We had a small celebration after dinner with just the three of us. We got Lyla a Classic Cami cupcake from Cami Cakes. They have the best cupcakes ever. If you've never had one, you must try it. They are located next to Mellow Mushroom in Jacksonville, FL. After the cupcakes, we gave Lyla more presents. We gave her a pink bouncy ball, Dr. Suess books, special dishes just for her, and a snack trap, which is an awesome invention.

Lyla's Birthday - June 11th
My plan is to take a picture of Lyla waking up on her birthdays as long as I can. When she wakes up her hair is quite messy. Here she is on her first birthday. She puts her passies in herself now and seems to prefer them upside down.

Birthday Balloon Fun!
We went to Toys R Us the day before Lyla's birthday and they gave her a birthday balloon. Lyla has been a little nervous around balloons in the past, but not anymore. She had a great time chasing the balloon around.

Lyla's Birthday Celebration!!
Lyla is ONE today!! We are having a few celebrations in her honor. The first one was last Saturday while her Papa and Nana George were visiting. We had cake and ice cream and she opened presents from some of her family. I love so many of the pictures, so here goes!
Big Cake
Smash Cake
Lyla in her birthday dress! So cute!
I'm ready for cake!
What is this? It doesn't taste like carrots or peas...And what's on my head?
I think I like this!
Getting the hang of the "smash" cake!
The icing is the best part!
I'm ready for my bath! It actually got a lot worse than this, but I didn't capture it because it was so messy I had to put down the camera and take action. She smeared it in her hair, hair bow & hat. Icing is hard to wash out of all that hair. She smelled sweet like cake for a day or two.

She's Learning!
Lyla has learned where her "piggies" (toes) and nose are. I always do the "this little piggie went to market" rhyme on her so she learned her piggies and Tommy taught her where her nose is. Now we are working on where her tummy is.

First Bike Ride & First Haircut All in One Day
Now that Lyla is almost one, we decided she is big enough to join us on our bike rides. We bought a seat for the back of Tommy's bike and the cutest pink helmet with bunnies on it. Tommy was flying late today, so he spent the morning with me and Lyla. After breakfast we went for a bike ride in our neighborhood. We rode about 20 minutes and Lyla seemed to enjoy herself. No crying and she even babbled a little. Also, that's our new family car in the second picture. It's a Chevy Traverse and we love it!

I took Lyla to "Sweet & Sassy" to get her first haircut. They have a "baby's first haircut" package that includes a haircut of course, certificate, picture and lock of hair. Lyla did so good and enjoyed everything about getting her haircut. It's a good thing because she has got some hair so we will be doing this often. Sweet & Sassy was the best place for a baby girls haircut. They had little chairs with safety straps, a TV with any cartoon you want (we chose Dora) and everything is pink, pink, pink. When the Dora song came on Lyla started bouncing in the seat. So cute!! I let Lyla keep her passy most of the time because I was nervous and wanted her to be comfortable. She even let her hairdresser, Seanette, use the blow dryer on her, mostly to blow off the loose hair. Seanette was so good with Lyla and we will definitely go back to her for future haircuts. I took a lot of pictures so I put together a slide show. After the slideshow are before and after pictures of the back her head to show how long her hair was.

Lyla's 1st 5K
On May 23rd we ran the Beaches Chapel 5K in Neptune Beach, FL. Tommy pushed Lyla in the stroller. She enjoyed herself and took in the scenery as they zoomed by me and left me in the dust. We all did pretty well. Tommy and Lyla did beat me. Tommy was told that Lyla was the first baby to cross the finish line. Here we are after the race, so we look a little sweaty.
A Weekend in NC
The weekend of May 16th, we went to see my family in NC. My brother and his wife are expecting a baby in July, so we had a family baby shower for them. We had a great time while we were there.
Our first stop was my Grandma George's house. We spent Friday night at her house. Lyla made herself right at home crawling and cruising everywhere.
We visited my Grandma and Grandpa Watson Saturday afternoon. Lyla had not seen her Great Grandparents since Christmas, so it was nice to see them again.

Before the baby shower, Brad and Kelli came by and gave Lyla her birthday presents since they won't see her on her actual birthday. They gave her a cute night gown, bathing suit, shirt and Fisher Price tea set. The tea set was immediately a hit with Lyla. She won't pour us tea yet, but she does know how to push the buttons and open the top to make the teapot talk and play music. Thank you Brad and Kelli. Lyla loves her presents. Notice how Lyla is pointing at her new toy. She points at everything.
At the baby shower Lyla got to play with her older cousins (2nd cousins I think) Logan and Lexi. We tried really hard to get a group picture. As you can see none of them are looking at the camera, but they are still so cute.
Brad and Kelli opening gifts for future baby Skylar. Brad went to NC State, so he got this outfit to dress Skylar in.
Brad is saying "What are these for?" They are the diaper genie refills. I hope he figures out how to refill the diaper genie because it fills up awfully fast!!
After the shower we headed to Reidsville to spend a couple of nights with my parents, Lyla's Nana and Papa. They have this cool toy that Lyla played with most of the day. Doesn't he look like a proud Papa?
Lyla really enjoyed jumping with Nana on her trampoline. When mom stopped jumping Lyla would try her best to bounce by herself. It was so cute!
