A Weekend with Nana & Papa

Nana and Papa George visited us last weekend. They hadn't seen Lyla since early February and they couldn't believe how much she had changed. She could only get around by rolling last time they were here but now she is creeping around everywhere and pulling up and trying to climb things. While Nana and Papa were here we went to the beach, had some lunch and went for a walk on the beach. We pushed Lyla in her stroller but then let her get out and feel the sand and water. She loved the water rushing over her feet. So far she loves any kind of water.
Saturday night Nana and Papa kept Lyla while Tommy and I went on a date. We went to the movies and ate at JJ's Bistro de Paris. It was very good. Thanks mom and dad for keeping Lyla for us and giving us some much needed time alone.

Tommy Goes 160 mph

Today Tommy, Lyla and I went to Daytona so Tommy could do the Richard Petty Ride Along Experience. Lyla and I watched from the sidelines as Tommy suited up, climbed in the car just like a pro would, and rode three laps around the track. He really enjoyed it, except for one thing...THEY MADE HIM RIDE IN DALE JR.'S CAR! What were they thinking? No, Dale Jr. wasn't actually driving the car. We aren't sure who was, but he sure did drive fast. Here are some pics from the day. I was there, but we didn't get any pictures of me.

9 months old!

Lyla turned 9 months old yesterday. She had a good day. We took her to the doctor for her 9 month well baby appointment. The doctor said she was perfect. Here are her stats:

weight: 19 lbs 6 ozs.
height: 26 3/4 "
head: 17 1/"

The only part Lyla didn't like was when the doctor tried to look in her mouth. Lyla still has no teeth and the doctor said she sees no sign of them coming in soon. I guess we'll have to continue serving soft food for a while. Lyla has been feeding herself some finger foods for a couple of weeks now. She eats puffs, Cheerios, peas, carrots, banana, flour tortilla (so fun to rip up), bread, and macoroni. She's still eating babyfood and cereal too and formula of course.

Here are some pictures from her 9 month old birthday. We got some new bigger hairbows and they are so cute.

Daddy Daughter Weekend

Last weekend I went to Boone for a girls weekend and left Tommy and Lyla home together. This is the first time I was away from Lyla overnight or for this long. I think the most I'd been away from her before this was four hours. We had a good time in Boone, the place has changed so much, yet so little at the same time. I can't believe it has been over eight years since I graduated. Sigh...

Tommy and Lyla had a fun weekend together. They played, went shopping, and went to church. I came home to a very happy baby. I missed her like crazy and it was so good to be back with her.

Fun Family Friday

Tommy was off work yesterday, so we took Lyla to the playground. She had a good time, especially on the swings. The weather is so pretty here today, sunny and 80, so I put Lyla in a cute little sunsuit. After the Carolina game, maybe we'll make it outside to enjoy it.

A Vist from Papa and Nana Morrow

Tommy's parents visited us last weekend. Lyla was so happy to see them from the time they first walked through the door. She was very well behaved the whole time they were here and we all had a good weekend. Lyla showed off her newest tricks...army crawling and laughing hysterically.

Happy Birthday Nana!

Today is my mom's birthday (Lyla's Nana). I thought it would be cool if Lyla held a "Happy Birthday Nana" sign for a blog picture. I didn't realize how difficult it would be to get Lyla to sit still with the sign. Here is a slideshow of our many attempts to get a picture.
